THE TRANSFORMATION OF EDUCATION AND ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL SOCIETY IN FACING THE 5.0 ERA: A CASE STUDY AT AL-IKHLAS ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, KARASAN, MAGETAN ABSTRACT The advent of Society 5.0 has significantly impacted various sectors of life, including the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) education system, which is deeply rooted in traditional values. Technological advancements and digitalization have compelled pesantren to adapt while preserving their identity. This study is motivated by the need to understand how educational and societal transformations within pesantren unfold in response to the challenges and opportunities of the 5.0 era. Based on this context, the research questions are formulated as follows: (1) How does the adapted form community of Al-Ikhlas Karasan Magetan Islamic Boarding School respond to the Society 5.0 era?(2) How does the form educational transformation at Al-Ikhlas Karasan Magetan Islamic Boarding School adapt to Society 5.0? (3) What is the relationship between education and the pesantren community in facing Society 5.0? This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects include the pesantren leaders, teachers, administrators, and students of Al-Ikhlas Karasan Magetan. Data collection techniques involve in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and visual documentation. Thematic analysis is conducted in four stages: transcription, coding, theme identification, and interpretation. To ensure data validity, source and method triangulation are used, along with prolonged researcher engagement in the field. The findings reveal that social agents within the pesantren actively respond to societal changes in adaptive ways while remaining grounded in Islamic values. The curriculum undergoes transformation through the integration of digital literacy, ICT training, and the reinforcement of 21st-century skills. These changes influence the mindset, social behavior, and learning culture of the pesantren community, including the emergence of student-led economic initiatives and their involvement in digital media management.This study highlights the potential of pesantren to play a pivotal role in shaping a competitive generation of Muslims in the digital age. Recommendations are directed toward pesantren administrators to strengthen adaptive curriculum systems and expand digital skills training for all members of the pesantren community.
