Abstraksi :

This study examines comparative differences in discipline and Qur’an Hadits learning achievement between pesantren and non pesantren students at MA Hidayatul Umam Ngawi. The research was motivated by the empirical finding that some pesantren students exhibited lower discipline and academic performance than non pesantren students, despite the pesantren’s structured and rule based environment that theoretically supports better learning outcomes. Using a mixed methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory design, the study first collected quantitative data through questionnaires and documentation, followed by qualitative data gathered through interviews and observations to explain the quantitative results more deeply. The sample was selected using random sampling techniques. Quantitative data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test, while qualitative data were processed through thematic analysis. The results indicate no significant difference in discipline between pesantren and non pesantren students (t = 0.335 < 2.021; Sig. = 0.739 > 0.05), suggesting that discipline is shaped not only by the schooling environment but also by internal awareness, environmental support, and consistent regulation. Conversely, a significant difference was revealed in Qur’an Hadits achievement (t = 4.149 > 2.021; Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), with pesantren students achieving higher outcomes due to the intensity of religious instruction. Further analysis shows that differences in discipline are influenced by internal factors such as self-awareness and external factors such as supervision, time management, and learning environment, while differences in achievement are affected by physiological and psychological conditions as well as external factors including learning intensity and religious educational background.
